Start here
Begin with the problem, not the product.
If you’re trying to make a home safer, simpler or easier to manage, start with the problem you’re trying to solve.
I want to:
- Know if someone is safe at home
- Make night-time movement safer
- Help someone remember medication
- Keep in touch with an older parent
- Simplify lights and heating
- Monitor a home remotely
- Make technology easier to use
- Help someone remain independent longer
A sensible first step
Write down the one difficulty that causes the most worry or effort. Then consider who will set up and maintain the technology, whether the home has dependable internet, what information everyone is comfortable sharing, and what happens if the device fails. Technology may provide additional information or convenience, but it does not replace professional care, emergency services or a human check-in plan.
